DHC6

Pilot Matt Painter (who was at school at Ukarumpa with our son, Richard) supervises the unloading of a C206 at Ambulua. The load consists of tools and equipment for the installation of a rural communication system.

Ambulua is 6,100' above sea level and located on a ridge in the middle of a valley at the foot of Mount Wilhelm, the highest peak in PNG. The location is spectacular and beautiful, but it also causes strong tailwinds to develop early in the day, making it necessary for flights to be programmed there before 10 a.m.
