A traditional house at Wawoi Falls, home of the Kamula people.

Originally several families would live in one of these houses, the women on one side and the men on the other. The women would prepare food for the men and weren't even permitted to look them in the face. Times have changed, and in some things at least, for the better.

A house like this is now a rarity and the knowledge of how to build them is being lost as the people construct smaller residences where man and wife live together with their immediate family and not as a community of extended families.
